Board of Public Works and Safety

The Board of Public Works and Safety (commonly known as the Board of Works) meets on the second Monday of each month, 5 p.m., at City Hall. The board consists of three members, the mayor plus two mayoral appointees.

Key Responsibilities:

The Board of Works has two functions: public safety and public works. The public safety function includes law enforcement and fire protection. The public works function includes control over streets, sanitation, transportation, sewers and water utilities.
